The first thing to keep in mind is to keep your bag light. Please do not add extra and unnecessary items to it. As I go on more trips and experience, I realize I don’t need many things. Everything I’m looking for is now contained in the same backpack.

I like writing down everything I believe I’ll need and then breaking it into two pieces. I’m always asking myself, “Will I use this enough to justify the weight?”

I will bring only what I need. I only get the essentials, and if I genuinely require something that I didn’t carry, I will buy it at the airport. It’s not challenging to locate medicines, clothing, or even an umbrella in foreign countries.

I also make sure to keep to the same climate throughout my trips so that I don’t have to carry a variety of types of clothing. I do not want to bring sweaters all over Thailand! However, plans could change and, in the event, I’ll get a light coat or a sweater. Then, I’ll store it until it becomes an inconvenience and throw it to charity.

You can do laundry in other countries, so I prefer to bring enough clothes to last 7-10 days. Then, wash them and repeat. There’s no reason to get lots of things to wash what you already have.

What’s you’re looking for the long answer on what you should be packing? So here is my recommended packing list; however, you must adapt it to your needs.

Note: This is a guideline for traveling to non-winter climates. If you’re going to a colder area, you’ll have to adapt according to your destination. It would be best if you had a folding carton in your bag to store various things in it.
