Method and benefits of doing Paschimottanasana

Paschimottanasana is a sitting posture on straight legs with the upper body bent forward. It is one of the 12 basic asanas of hatha yoga and is also part of the Ashtanga series.

This is one of the asanas mentioned in “Shiva Samhita”. Paschimottanasana is also said to balance the prana in the body. This asana was promoted by the 11th-century yogi Gorakshanath.

The word Paschimottanasana is derived from the Sanskrit root words “Paschim” meaning “back” or “west direction”, “utana”, meaning “intense stretch”, and asana meaning “situation”.

Time to do Paschimottanasana-

If you practice it every day, you will get good results. It is more beneficial to practice this asana in the morning and in the evening on an empty stomach. After reaching the full position, wait 20-30 seconds. You can do this asana for 4-5 minutes.

Paschimottanasana Method –

Paschimottanasana is a bit difficult to see. But if you practice it slowly, you can do it easily. Here are the details of how to do it in a simple way.

  • First, you sit on the ground.
  • Now spread both your legs in front.
  • Leave the back muscles loose.
  • While inhaling, raise your hands up.
  • Then while exhaling, bend forward.
  • You try to hold the fingers of the legs with your hand and bring the nose to the knee.
  • Breathe in slowly, then exhale slowly
  • And wear this exercise according to you.
  • Increase its duration gradually.
  • It was a circle.
  • In this way, you do 3 to 4 cycles.
