Numbing Facts about Scourer Pad

A scourer pad is a small pad of metal or plastic used for scouring a surface. A scouring is generally made of a sponge like material, a metal or a mesh.

Scourers come in a variety of forms made of different materials in order to clean items and surfaces. There are two types of scourers: abrasive and non-abrasive.

Abrasives are rough to touch, being able to scrub surfaces and uplift tougher messes. A non-abrasive pad is smooth and doesn’t remove messes effectively like the abrasive ones. A non-abrasive is best for use if you are being cautious about your pans’ scratches and it will leave your pan smooth as a new one.

Scourer pad is designed to remove the toughest grease and grime. The classic shape reaches out into corners to remove tough messes. Its unique bonded image helps maintain its iconic shape. The anti-rustic formula restores grills, pots and baking sheets to their glory.

  • Cleaning pads

They are very useful items for use in a wide range of cleaning tasks. They have great absorbent properties which make them dry and hold a big amount of liquid inside them.

  • Sponge pads

They are a mixture of scouring and sponging products, providing the benefits of both the absorbent sponge and an abrasive material. This is ideal for cleaning outdoor grills, furniture and pots and pans which are affected by remaining food.

  • Magic Erasers

For removing scuff marks, magic erasers are useful for both domestic and commercial cleaners.

They are ideal for use in environments such as schools, classroom floors or skirting boards.

These two samples of sponges, now part of our everyday life, are composed of two separate layers of polymers that are laminated together. The softer layer, which recreates the feel of a natural sponge, is usually made of foamed polymer. As compared to this, the scouring pad is made of a harder mesh of polyethylene.

Natural sponges have been used for thousands of years as cleaning, padding and decorating tools.

How to clean a scouring pad

Scouring pads are the main source of bacteria in your home. You might have seen that after cleaning with the scouring, it is left as with dirt, messes and contaminants.

Bacteria, molds and germs have the ability to reproduce in any space, especially if it is a damp one like a scrubber.  These microorganisms are a catalyst to spread a variety of diseases. It is important to disinfect the scourer pad and avoid transferring them to objects such as cutlery.

Bleach is a very important product for cleaning and disinfecting any space or some objects, following the necessary precautions such as the use of gloves to prevent burns.

To disinfect a loofah with bleach, you must first clean it until the excess soap and foam it contains are removed.

Use an unused container in which to pour hot water and two lye lids.

Place the scourer pad inside the container and leave it to soak for 15 minutes. At the end of the time, remove it from the container and wash it with plenty of water to eliminate traces of lye.

Microwave oven

It has been scientifically proven that bacteria and germs die when they are in an environment with high temperatures. To disinfect your pad, place it in a container of water and heat it for five minutes to remove any impurities.

Remove the container with gloves to avoid hot water, empty the water so that the water contained in the sponge is tempered and you can wash it.

When you heat the loofah in the microwave oven, a process begins in which the loofah is sterilized by heat.

With this method, germs, molds and bacteria are eliminated from the pads. This procedure can’t be applied to scouring pads that contain plastic or metal within their components.
